Surf City, NC - It was an historic day for our country yesterday when Barack Obama was sworn in as our 44th president, but it was also an historic day here on Topsail Island, NC.  WE had SNOW!!!  About 2 inches here in Shaes Landing.

This is a rare occasion that we have any snow that sticks.  As the temperature dropped yesterday below freezing and the frontal system moving in from the west provided the best conditions for snow.  It was a beautiful sight to see the snow fall on our little island paradise.  The temperatures continued to drop to aroun 19 degrees this morning freezing the moisture on the roads and leaving the palm trees and grasses covered in the white stuff.

What a sight to see snow on the sandy beaches.  The photos below were taken this morning, Jan 21, 2009, to capture this historical event.
